Towards Friendship | Debdoot Mukherjee | Poem

Towards Friendship
Debdoot Mukherjee

The sky was motley,
Sunshine and cloudy,
Bits of raindrops, touching the soul,
Free, heartfelt air gliding past
You and me
As the wheels searched for silence,
And shared solitude.
Smiling, talking, laughing loud
We moved on, where there is life.
Where nature has her bounty
In all her beauty,
Where to love is never easy,
Where gentle breeze embraces in her bosom!
Where poems strike the strings of heart,
And songs vibrate the deepest emotions,
Where I could profess love
To my beloved
And still cry in bottomless depths,
And in all these,
You were there with me,
Dear friend!
