It was a Tuesday, but with a difference of more than a century in the calender. Remember him when he had the words of Vandemataram on his lips before he went to embrace the death bed. Remember the sacrifice he made at such a tender age that will hopefully never suffer the perfect onslaughts of time. Remember the soul that was split into halves as he was mercilessly hanged by the British Imperialism as the clock managed to strike the right hour!
Yes! I am talking on the youngest patriot Khudiram Bose, who with his acolyte Prafulla Chaki desired to teach a good lesson to the brutal Kingsford, but miserably failed as destiny had a different plan and the tide was not on their favour! Years have rolled by, so many choppy waves of the sea lashed against the shore, broke into droplets and never returned! But how much we have valued their sacrifice? How many of us remember him except some traditional rituals observed on this day? How many of us truly comprehend the dreams hidden behind such a timeless sacrifice? Yet the waters of freedom have been tasted by us. We enjoy our life as much we can. We often recite the stories of ours, without realizing the battles others have fought in their life. We talk on love, fall in love, burn in passion, move out of a relationship but have never learnt to truly love someone who has really done something substantial for us! In fact how can we love our motherland and her sons, when we don't love ourselves, our own reflections!
Hundred years before and hundred years after, the chemistry on the podium has seen a sea change, but the change in 'humanity' is really appalling in the accepted sense of term!! Any explanation?
