O! My Goddess | Kunal Roy | Poem

O! My Goddess
Kunal Roy

Leaving the home of your husband,
You come to us,
every year,
the encore -
but with a difference
of hailing you
by us :
the poor mortals!

The Lord of Himalayas,
mother Maneka,
brother Mainak
deluge with ecstasy!
The incense burns,
the rituals observed,
the divine hymns
add-
to the vibes!
The streets are lit,
the yells and shouts ,
eat out,
drink
and many more!

The moments pass,
the day of departure arrives
amid love and laughter!
the sweets add to the sweetness,
the betel leaves turn sacred,
the faces smeared with vermilion,
happiness and tears
conjugate,
weave and wait
for another year-
as the sky turns blue,
the catkins bloom,
the rejoice redefined!!
