She was born, having the numerology of Venus, the planet of love, romance , glamour and creativity. She was the perfect blend of such qualities. She was elusive. She rocked the tinsel town of Tollywood for more than a couple of decades. She was none other than the queen of Tollywood, Suchitra Sen, endearingly known as Roma.
Her journey began to take off under the able guidance of some stunning film makers and to the best of our knowledge her screen pair with the leading actors like Uttam Kumar, Soumitra Chatterji, Bikash Roy, Dharmendra, Sanjiv Kumar or for that instance Bosonto Chowdhury is a timeless hit in the realm of Indian movies. Infact , who can afford to forget her in "Aandhi", a film based on the life of Mrs Indira Ghandhi, the iron lady of India! It is worth mentioning that she was the first and probably the last woman who received the "Best Actress" award from THE MOSCOW FILM CIRCLE for Ajay Kar's "Saat pakhe bada". However, the story was tailored by the eminent author Ashutosh Mukhopadhya with the focus on the ups and downs of relationship in a girl's life.
With the ripening of time, she moved away from the public stance and led a life completely unknown to others. This great soul , although passed away seven years ago, yet her charisma, her enigmatic smile continue to impress the millions! Today is her birthday 6 April , but the moment is perhaps observed somewhere in the Heavens, far away from the mortal illusions!!
