LET US SAY A BIG NO !
Kunal Roy

It is often said that developing a good habit like reading, writing, analyzing, making friends or any other creative venture is always a welcoming factor. But it is to be borne in mind that any kind of habit should not take the shape of addiction at any cost. It might be detrimental to both mental and physical health status. It might push someone into a state of chronic depression! But surprisingly, the definition of this addiction has suffered a sea change. Whenever we come across this very expression, the images of drug, trafficking and other illicit affairs together conjure up before us! And you cannot simply keep this factor at bay!
Drug - the term has assumed a gigantic proportion in recent times. At each and every place ( including the big hoardings), the word is either engraved or printed with care! Every year innumerable people fall into the deadly trap! And literally there is no one who can come to their rescue! Strange! Yet a blatant truth!! Moreover, thousands die owing to this severe social malady. According to the psychologists, there are countless reasons behind such a step. Ranging from anxiety disorder to depression to social abuse to suicidal attempts - there is a huge possibility for the life to get snuffed out at any moment. On the other hand, trafficking has taken a front seat in recent times. The rackets are truly active in befooling young innocent girls in order to be trafficked and sold off at the red light zones! The life plunges into darkness. An identity which banks upon satiating the lust of the customers descending from diverse socio - cultural backgrounds! Police make much hue and cry. Demonstrations and rallies block the traffic. Slogans are raised. But every such attempt goes in vain, as 'human awareness' is still a far fetched story!
26 June. 'International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking'. However, we have to be more considerate and empathetic in our approach. We ought to be careful about the choice of words and expressions used in banners, pamphlets and leaflets! In fact we have to bridge the gap between 'human being' and 'being humane'! After all the society needs a random reformation to create a new time of glory!!
