THE VICTORY | Kunal Roy | Poem | Kargil Vijay Diwas

THE VICTORY
Kunal Roy

The war began,
the sun rose in the east,
the radiant surrounding,
awaited the moments of killing and blood shed,
throttled each other,
wove a tragic history
of pains and sufferings!

The soldiers on the bunk,
the guns and bullets
shattered the bliss!
The dust blew in the air,
the mud smeared corporeal,
dragged to the dry well
to quench the thrist with a drop!!

The war continued
the borders -
no word of solace,
the heap of dead bodies,
the tears in the eyes
of kith and kin!
Sacrifice matters -
proved anew
by the saviours!
The fate rescripted,
the sign of victory showed,
the smile appeared,
yells and laughter followed!

The war ended,
the destruction stopped,
the pangs throve
with lots of strength and might!
The open field,
the forlorn look,
the deserted texture,
the dried blood drops,
the tattered drapery,
the haunting memories!

Not a question of victory,
nor a question of vanquish,
sew the lips of war mongers,
tie the arms and feet!
No more a war,
no more a destructive monologue,
no more a conspiracy,
no more deaths,
no more a tale of dejection!!
