THE AUSPICIOUS HOUR | Kunal Roy

Buddha or Guru purnima. An auspicious day. A day to remember the birth of Lord Buddha, his giving up of the worldly pleasures and his family in search of truth.

The Royal heir to the throne of Kapilavastu relinquished his kingly life as he neither wanted to be the King nor the King maker! Time fleeted and he attained enlightment within a span of forty days. All these are simply the part and parcel of history including his message of non violence to the King Ashoka after the gory battle of Kalinga! But what inspires me the most and helps me to feel the hair on my skin , are his immortal and flawless contemporary utterances on the various tides of life such as "silence is never empty, it is full of answers", "the point where you have reached, where you don't have to impress any more your freedom begins and "a beautiful heart is better than a thousand beautiful faces". The words are simple.Yet sharp, cutting through the edges of existence. I often wonder how such simple terms are threaded together to create an evergreen impact on the individuals. I try to fathom the depth of such utterances. I simply don't know whether I am correct about my interpretation or not, but the attempt to understand the words of wisdom continues unaffectedly!

However, Buddha is believed to be the ninth incarnation of Lord Vishnu, who came for some noble deeds and then left unlike Lord Krishna where the plans and policies to establish Dharma on the earth were crucial, desperate and remarkable!!
