THE OTHER MANIFESTATION OF THE GODDESS!Kunal Roy
The Goddess is known as "Ardha Kali". There is no need to fast. A spine chilling experience overwhelms when one listens to her story.
A beautiful sight. The Goddess holds a pail of full grains with her fore hands and the other two are used to hide her face with a piece of garment. On the removal , the Goddess is discovered to be red in shame and her tongue becomes visible.
The assembled devotees sat at her knees and were literally taken aback after such an apocalyptic vision.
Six hundred years ago. A stern devotee Dwijodeb Thakur of Moymonsinggho prayed to the Goddess to be blessed with a child. The Goddess replied to him.
In an auspicious night, the Goddess came in his dream and assured him that she was going to come to his family as a little girl child. She kept her word. She was born to Dwijo Thakur, but her appearance was a bit queer. She was neither fair nor dusky. It was rather a blend of these. The villagers took it to be an ominous sign. But Dwija Thakur never forgot about the dream! She was named Joydurga. But Thakur used to call her Ardha Kali.
She grew up. It became a concern for her father to get her married off. The divine mother instructed him to tie the nuptial knot with Raghabram Bhattacharya, a disciple of Dwijo Thakur.
Sher Shah, the Sultan of Bengal tortured and stopped the practice of Vedic studies. But the studies on astrology and occult science spread far and wide and Raghabram Bhattacharya was an important exponent in such domains!
Raghabram Bhattacharya used to perform a huge number of unique activities viz putting a snake around the neck at the time of plucking fruit from a tree. Thus at an unripe age of eight years, Joydurga married Raghabram Bhattacharya. However, during the auspicious moment of Boubhat , Joydurga revealed the posture of Ardha Kali, much to the surprise of others.
Innumerable tales as such are scattered in our history. Inspiring and evocative. You may never know how She is going to arrive and pour blessings! But trails and tribulations would continue until the process of purification is complete and you realise the higher life, far away from the dazzling boldness of materialism! Material darkness and Spiritual enlightenment cannot go together, after all!!
