Motto of Life
Diptarupa Mallick Dasgupta
Oh, no! Don't cut me,
For I am your future,
I am the one who gives you,
Food, paper and shelter,
Think before uprooting me or pruning my branches,
Ponder over the aftermath you will face in my absence.
I am another name for life,
For I give you oxygen,
Have you ever imagined your condition,
Without sustainable development?
I am appalled by your blindness,
Indiscriminate encroachment and treachery,
Can you really find any substitute,
For my merits and greenery?
It's high time that you fathom your duties,
And to your slaughtering activities draw a conclusion,
For Afforestation must be your motto of life,
And not life-taking Deforestation.
