Ode to the Earth
Subhadeep Banerjee
Lo! I stand before thee, O Earth sublime,
Whose fertile bosom bears the seeds of time.
Thy verdant valleys and majestic peaks,
A symphony of life, where harmony speaks.
With thunderous voice, thy oceans proclaim,
The sacred secrets hidden in their name.
From coral reefs to kelp forests deep,
A fragile world where wonders silently creep.
Yet man, with reckless stride, has wrought,
An age of plunder, consuming all he sought.
The forests tremble, their canopies fade,
As progress tramples through the green arcade.
O'er barren plains, where once the bison roamed,
Now desolation reigns, and hope is dethroned.
The rivers weep, their currents choked with waste,
While poisoned skies mock birds in hasty haste.
Oh, how the creatures suffer, the innocent and wild,
Their songs of joy drowned in the darkness defiled.
The fragile web of life, in every thread undone,
As progress marches on, its heavy footsteps won.
But hear me now, ye guardians of the Earth,
We must reclaim our home, reveal its worth.
For in our hands lies power to mend,
To heal the wounds, to make amends.
Let us rise like the phoenix from the ashen gloom,
And forge a world where harmony may bloom.
Where fields of green stretch forth in endless dance,
And clean rivers weave tales of love and chance.
O Earth, our mother, guide us on this quest,
With every heartbeat, we shall be your guest.
For in your embrace, we find our rebirth,
In every moment, we shall sing of your worth.
