A Different Festive MoodKunal Roy
The cycle of celebration has just set in with today as the people really love to rejoice to the brim of their tepid heart and made the auspicious moment of Viswakarma Puja, a little more sacred in the accepted sense of term!
At the crack of dawn, the devotees as usual assemble to offer their prayers to the God, followed by the distribution of Prasad among one and all. Little later the urchins of today may be viewed to be matching their foot steps with a few popular Hindi numbers! Moreover, as the rain gods are fast asleep, the sun has got a better chance to shower its radiance upon us. A sense of unadulterated delight! This time there may be less drum - beating, an important ingredient of the puja. The reason is obvious. Viswakarma, though the Lord of work has not been able to ensure enough job openings for us and therefore 'a jobless future' is created beyond any doubt!
However, the evening, a bit less colourful as the streets are depeopled and the shops are shut down! Often I think as if the festive mood is going to disappear owing to the financial crunch suffered by the innumerable individuals across the nation. It is pretty unknown to us when the Lord would himself descend from the heaven to eradicate this perennial problem and ensure enough grains for all and sundry!! Are you listening to me, my Lord ?
