তুমি আমার কাছে একখানা ঘর চেয়েছিলে
আমি তোমাকে একটা বাড়ি দিয়ে দিলাম
তোমার আকাঙ্ক্ষার চেয়েও বেশি।
উপরে নীচে অনেকগুলি ঘর
তোমার আকাঙ্ক্ষার চেয়েও বেশি।
তুমি তোমার আকাঙ্ক্ষাকে মুহূর্তে বড়ো করে
বেশির সঙ্গে খাপ খাইয়ে নিলে।
আমাদের সমস্ত সংগ্রামই এই বেশির জন্যে
বাড়তির জন্যে, বাহুল্যের জন্যে
আমরা কি জানি!
অভাব যেমন নষ্ট করে
প্রাচুর্যও তেমনি পথে বসায়।
তুমি শুধু এক পলকের ভালোবাসা চেয়েছিলে
আমি তোমাকে বেশি দিয়ে ফেলেছিলাম
দিয়ে ফেলেছিলাম আমৃত্যু হাহাকারের মতন
গোটা একটা জীবন....
তখন কি জানতাম
বাহূল্যও এমনই সর্বস্বান্ত করে।
