Once the selfish giant woke up to the lovely voice of linnet, a small bird to see if spring had arrived in his garden with a plethora of colours or not, a fairy tale whose central thread was being translated into a stream of reality, when we managed to wake up to the screams of street urchins as they began to play their game of splashing colours on this auspicious moment of Holi! Counting the steps back to the realm of history, it can be comfortably asserted that this festival has its root in our legendary tales and with the passage of time, the pattern of playing has changed though, the rituals are never sacrificed! Right from the morning, the foreheads were resplendent with myriad colours followed by a colour shower from the hair till toe tip. The strains of the popular Hindi music like "Balam pichkari" added an extra boost to the already lofty spirit of us. On the other hand, the risk of any skin disease is in vogue as the colours used are contaminated with harsh chemicals and preservatives. But frankly speaking, it couldn't dampen the festive spirit in any way. However, this celebration of life with colours attained a different dignity at Rabindra Bharati Campus and of course Shantineketan. And last but not the least drinks especially lassi and wine played a pivotal role here. After all the much eagerly awaited moment ought to be dotted with some experiences of like and love!!
