Spirituality Scores Over Natural Inclemence | Kunal Roy

The mythology woven around Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati is enough to show the importance of Adishakti to the whole world. One day Shiva and Parvati entered into an argument. Shiva wanted to state that the materialistic aspects, including the food which the humans eat are futile before him. This enraged Parvati and she decided to disappear from the world. She did so and the whole world began to suffer in a terrible manner. In the absence of food and water, the whole world came into the grip of famine. Lord Shiva ran helter and skelter in search of food. His followers began to chase Him for food. There was not a single grain. Finally He heard that food was only available in Kashi. The Lord went there. Surprisingly, the kitchen was owned by his consort. She was dressed in purple and brown garments. She was sitting on a golden throne, distributing food to one and all. Shiva was also one of them. This simply proved one thing that She always stands out of the crowd. The world got back its grains and life was once more assured!!

This is just the kernel of the whole story. Parvati, the embodiment of Adi Shakti knew that Shiva would not be able to fill his begging bowl! This knowledge helps us to know and understand how far Adi Shakti moved to prove her worth to the whole world. Annapurna is not just another name of the Goddess but has a soulful impact on each one of us. Shiva is the destroyer to recreate the cycle once more. But Parvati is endowed with all the qualities of Sattwa, Raja and Tamas. Without Her Shiva is none but a lifeless corporeal !

The feminine energy is the primordial force behind the creative cycle. However, the tough masculine gender often doesn't desire to acknowledge this simple truth owing to fatal ego and arrogance! But the Lord doesn't and therefore the 'Arddhanarishwar rup' ( the inseparable entities) has come to the forth long before the creation began to function! Shiva and Shakti complement each other. The awakening of Kundalini Shakti ( Popularly known as the Serpentine Power) results in the conjugation of Shiva and Shakti. The whole matter was executed by their sons to sustain balance and harmony!

The day marks the auspiciousness of Annapurna Puja. The burning incense, lighting of lamps, utterance of mantras and above all the sacred ambience spread purity among one and all. Although the sweltering summer has reached its apex, yet the spiritual journey has not stopped! The divine grace continues to pour on us...
